Nail & Skin Care
When the skin on your heels starts to crack.
Fissures can appear as dry or moist cracks in the skin. They can be painful and in some cases cause pain upon walking.
This may help if…
- The skin on your heels is dry and cracked
- You have moist cracks in the skin between your toes
- The cracks are sore, or hurt when you walk
- A crack isn't closing up, or you think it may be infected
What to expect
-

You'll fill in an intake form outlining your health problems, family history and any medication you're taking.
-
Assessment
Your feet will then be assessed, and you can address any cracks or other problems you are experiencing.
-
Treatment
Treatment will then be provided accordingly, with your consent.
Dry and moist fissures
Moist fissures are usually found in between the toes, whereas dry fissures are found in areas of high stress such as the heels. Dry fissures on the heels are often called cracked heels.
When to seek professional help
It is possible for a bacterial infection to complicate the closing of the fissures, and you should seek professional help.
Preventing fissures
- Moisturize your feet to prevent your skin from developing fissures or cracks.
- Make sure it's nice and dry between your toes to prevent any fungal infections.
